What is Political Science?

Political science focuses on the theory and practice of government and politics at the local, state, national, and international levels. We are dedicated to developing understandings of institutions, practices, and relations that constitute public life and modes inquiry.

Who can opt for Political Science?
  • People from any background can opt for political science.

  • It’s a misconception that only from arts background can opt for political science, engineers, doctors; people from commerce background have scored well in political science.

What are advantages of Political Science as an Optional in UPSC?
  • Concepts in political science is very easy to understand

  • It complements 60% of general studies syllabus such as World history and Indian national movement in Paper I.

  • Indian polity and Constitution in Paper II

  • Internal security in Paper III.

  • Ethics Paper IV

  • It also is very useful for writing a multidimensional essay in the mains paper.

  • Questions in political science in UPSC are straight forward and often repeated if we analyse the previous year’s question papers thoroughly.

  • Average score is more compared to other optional subjects.

  • In KPSC to 70% of KPSC syllabus overlaps.

Challenges of Political Science

The concepts are very easy to understand however one should also develop writting skill as the case with respect to all options and one should update themselves with recent IR developments.

Classroom Programme at our academy

We have divided the classroom programme into two parts:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the concepts in the class room.

  • Tests conducted regularly after the portions are completed.

We at DR RAJKUMAR academy believe in result oriented classes hence focus would be laid on making the candidate clear the exam rather than making him a political science expert.

Every week tests would be given on chapters covered in the class and personal feedback would be provided to candidate about his answers as writing would ultimately decides candidates fate in exam.

Materials would be provided in the class room for most of topics in syllabus.

Duration: 4 months.
