The written exam will consist of 100 questions for 100 marks. The subjects include:
General Knowledge, Science, Geography, History, Indian Constitution, National Freedom Movement, Mental Ability, and General Studies including Moral Education.
There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.
Candidates who have not studied Kannada as a first or second language, or who have not passed an equivalent Kannada examination, must appear for the compulsory Kannada language test. The test carries 150 marks, and candidates must score at least 50 marks to qualify.
